Are you a high school senior with a passion for community service and a family connection to a union? If so, the 2025 Jerry Beckendorf Community Service Scholarship is a great opportunity for you to be recognized for your dedication to helping others and making a difference in your community.

The Jerry Beckendorf Community Service Scholarship honors the legacy of Jerry Beckendorf, a long-time community leader who worked to improve the lives of Pierce County residents. After 15 years as the United Way and Pierce County Central Labor Council’s Labor Liaison, Jerry’s efforts continue to inspire. Since 2003, this scholarship has awarded over $128,700 to 151 graduating seniors from Union families, supporting the next generation of activists and volunteers.

This scholarship seeks to recognize graduating seniors who go above and beyond in serving their community. If you’ve been involved in projects that address issues like poverty, food insecurity, or homelessness, we want to hear from you! The scholarship committee will be looking at the amount and diversity of your community service, your leadership skills, the impact of your work, and your commitment to serving others.

If you are passionate about creating positive change and would like to be recognized for your hard work and dedication, we encourage you to apply. This is your chance to be celebrated for the difference you’ve already made and to help you continue your educational journey.
